Nancy Wilson and Maisie Richardson

Jazz performer Nancy Wilson a three-time Grammy Award-winner was born on February 20 1937 in Ohio, Chillicothe. She was the daughter of iron worker Olden Wilson and his wife Lillian Ryan who worked as a housekeeper. Nancy Wilson was the first child of six. Her father was a music lover and played records in the family. This had a great influence on her as a child. As young as four an age, she realized that she was going to be a star in the singing world. She developed her talent by her involvement in the choir at church. Nancy began recording for Dot Records in 1956, while with the group. Cannonball addederley recommended that she relocate into New York for her career, and in 1959 she relocated in The Big Town. Within a short time she began singing at The Blue Morocco Night Club located on Boston Road near The Bronx. The representative of Adderley was able to hear her perform and promptly signed her. A contract was formalized by Capitol Records in the year 1960. The year was 1960 when she debuted with the song. Guess whom I am seeing this morning. Under the direction of Cannonball Adderley Wilson's direction, she began to focus on R&B and then shifted her focus to torch and jazz.
