Jazz singer Nancy Wilson a three-time Grammy Award winner was born the 20th of February 1937 in Chillicothe Ohio to iron-worker Olden Wilson, and former Lillian Ryan who worked as a housekeeper. Nancy was one of six kids. Nancy's father was an avid fan of music and loved to play records in the family. It had a huge influence upon her growing up. The first time she recorded was with the Rusty Bryants Carolyn Club Big Band, who she performed with from 1956 until 1958. While in the group Nancy released her first record in the studio of Dot Records. Cannonball Aderley suggested that she make the move into New York so as to enhance her career. In 1959, Nancy moved in The Big Town. She was hired to sing in The Blue Morocco Night Club located in The Bronx and there was a place where Adderley's agent had come across her.
